Buy at Art.comI am quite frustrated with my pictures right now. For convenience’s sake, I put everything into Picasa. Works off my Google account, so it’s easy to get to and I don’t have to remember yet another log-in. But I’m finding it rather erratic as to whether my pictures actually show up. Perfect example is my new lens on ancient Rome fiction. All the banners I made are in the same folder at Picasa, used the exact same method for posting each of them into the lens, and yet, only one of them shows up. I can fiddle and get them to show for a day or so. But then they go right back to not being there.

The only other place I have right now to upload pictures is in my Googlepages area. And that’s equally frustrating because you can’t organize the pictures. Ugh. Could this be a bug between Picasa and Squidoo? (I know clouda9 has had similar issues.) Or should I just find a new place to host my pictures? And where? I know of Photobucket, but is there something better?

Hey Susan, you chose the album url! select the photo in the picassa album(twice) and right click for properties and copy the url. Then use only image tag.

I hope you get it right.

Really? Cause what I’m doing is viewing the picture, then heading down to the right side of the page where it says - link to this picture. I then just copy and paste the link into my text module. And if I put the URL part into a browser, the picture shows up just fine.

When I’ve done the right click thing in the past, then put the URL into the browser, it asks me if I want to download the picture rather than shows it.

The thing is that it doesn’t happen with all of them and I’m doing the exact same thing with every picture. So on my Rome lens, the picture for the republic isn’t showing, but the one for mysteries is. And I did the same thing with each. Sigh.

For ‘mysteries’ only img tag was used. Don’t use the link appearing in picassa. As I said, its the album url. Select the picture and use right click thing and copy the url of thr image/photo and use .

I alternate between using my web host and Photobucket. I actually think Photobucket is more handy than my paid-for hosting account. I think Flickr lets you link to your images hosted there, too…

Kem, OK, be patient with me just a little longer. If the URL that’s showing up is the URL for the album, why can I copy it into a new window and the image (not the album) shows up? It just doesn’t show up on the page. As for the link thing, I’ve done it both ways at different times to see if it made a difference and it never did. (I’m very scientific method girl.) In fact, the second image that’s supposed to be on the page (for the Caesar books) doesn’t have a link and it’s not showing. That’s why I’m so frustrated. I’ve tried with and without link. I’ve done the right click/copy image location thing and gotten a link that wants you to choose to download the image rather than show the image.

Whether I use the URL from right-clicking or the one that Picassa provides, in either case, the picture doesn’t stay. Again, it’s not all my Picasa-based pictures, it’s not all my Picasa-based albums. All the pictures on my Abby Cadabby lens work just fine. And I put them in exactly the same way as these and the ones on my Michelle Yeoh lens (which also dropped off constantly until I moved them to a different place).

    Aargh!!!

Mysteries image code, which has always shown up

Caesar image code, which doesn’t show up

Only difference I see is the main directory, but I get anything from 3-6 there depending on when I get the URL for the link.

I just really want this to work consistently. If it never worked, I would abandon it, but it does 90% of the time. Sigh. Thanks for letting me vent and for trying to help.

Well, apparently I can’t just copy the code in there like that. I give up for today. :-(

  7. kemengr Says:

Ok, I got your point. When you use the album url or browser address, its width is greater (say the whole screen) than the width available in the module, so it doesn’t show up. When you use a new window, you are using the full width. Even if the width of the photo is greater than what is available in the module or cell, it will not show. About the 90% of the time showing up, it depends upon the ststus of the source url.

    I appreciate your scientific temper!

I gave up. I just opened an account at flickr and uploaded them over there. Don’t want to be promoting the lens if it doesn’t look pretty. Gives me yet another place to get a backlink too, right? :-)

Thanks again, Kem. This was making me quite testy last night.
